Our qualified teachers create a tailored curriculum for their classroom that includes art, math, science, gross and fine motor skills, social skills, and Christian learning. Teachers base their curriculum on their students academic levels, abilities, and interests. We use Zoo-phonics to teach literacy. Zoo-phonics is a unique program that involves the whole child; eyes, ears, mouth, mind and body. It uses endearing animals (visual learning), hand and body motions (kinesthetic learning), sounds and songs (auditory learning), letter shapes (visual learning), as well as games and activities. Learn more about Zoo-phonics here. We use Group Publishing Simply Loved Christian Curriculum for Bible learning.
Mount Olympus Christian Child Development Center operates as a ministry of Mt. Olympus Presbyterian Church. We feature a non-denominational approach to child care that includes Bible stories, Christian songs, and prayer at meal times. We value the love of Christ, teach the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you) and never use shame as any part of our approach toward child care or spirituality. We are open to the community and members of all faiths and levels of spirituality.
Our availability varies throughout the year. If there are no current openings, you may be added to the waiting list. We ask that you tour our center before joining. That way, we are able to ensure that we are the right fit for your family. There is a $50 fee to join our waiting list, and a $200 enrollment fee per child once a spot has been given to a family. You can learn more about enrollment and the waiting list here.
Tours are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 2:30-4:30 p.m. by appointment only. If you are unable to make it during that time, special arrangements can be made. You can schedule a tour online.
We accept children as young as six weeks old and up to 11 years old. Classrooms are divided as follows: Infants (6wk-12m), Toddlers (12m-24m), Two's, Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Afterschool care. We generally transition classrooms at the end of each May. Our goal is to keep children with the kids they will go to Kindergarten with, so they will not necessarily move classrooms immediately after their birthday. Because of this, tuition will be based on the classroom that they are enrolled in, not their age.
Many of our teachers have either a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a Child Development Associate's (CDA). The State of Utah requires our teachers to attend 20 hours of continuing education in the field every year. We often host continuing education training events at Mount Olympus Christian Child Development Center and pay for our teachers to attend continuing education classes. All of our teachers and employees are required to be first aid and CPR certified as well.
Mount Olympus Christian Child Development Center prides itself on its teacher longevity. Many of our teachers have worked with us for over five years. We provide a happy and healthy work environment for teachers by creating a good work culture, offering competitive/livable wages, and providing support for staff to grow professionally.
Mount Olympus Christian Child Development Center admits children of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to children at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship, and other school-administered programs.
